Common questions
How far in advance can I book the Lagos-Ibadan train?
Only a few days. The NRC site works on a rolling window and in practice you can only reach dates less than a week away. Searching further ahead returns nothing at all, which means the date is not on sale yet rather than that no train runs.
How much is a Lagos to Ibadan train ticket?
For the full Lagos to Ibadan run, First Class is ₦13,000, Business Class ₦6,500 and Standard Class ₦3,600 for an adult. Shorter journeys cost less: Abeokuta to Ibadan is ₦6,000, ₦3,000 and ₦2,000. Children pay less in Standard only.
How long does the Lagos to Ibadan train take?
About 2 hours 30 minutes end to end, between Mobolaji Johnson Station in Ebute Metta and Obafemi Awolowo Station in Moniya, calling at up to nine stations.
Why are tickets always sold out?
A date only becomes bookable when it enters the rolling booking window a few days before travel, and popular services are taken within hours of opening. NRC states that all sales are final and the booking system blocks cancellation after payment, so a sold-out date usually stays sold out. The dependable way to get a seat is to be there the moment your date opens.
Is this the official NRC booking site?
No. This is an independent tool that watches the official Nigerian Railway Corporation site and emails you when seats appear. All bookings happen on nrc.gsds.ng.
